Cameron, Louisiana – Cameron Ferry Temporarily Out of Service for Maintenance
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that the Cameron Ferry will be temporarily out of service starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The outage is expected to last approximately 10 to 12 hours to allow for necessary maintenance work on the ferry.
During this time, motorists are advised to take alternative routes using the following detour information:
For motorists heading eastbound on LA 82, the suggested detour is as follows: Take LA 27 North towards Holly Beach, then continue onto I-10 Eastbound. Take Exit 36 to LA 397 South, and then proceed onto LA 14 East. Finally, follow the route by taking LA 27 South towards Holmwood and then take LA 27/LA 82 West towards Creole.
For motorists heading westbound on LA 82, the recommended detour is as follows: Take LA 27/LA 82 East and continue until reaching LA 27 North in Creole. Then take LA 14 West towards Holmwood and proceed to LA 397 North. Next, merge onto I-10 Westbound and take Exit 21 to LA 27 South.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly and allow for additional time to reach their destinations during this temporary ferry outage.
