Three Louisiana Men Face Multiple Charges After One Allegedly Hit a Coworker with a Hammer and Others Punched and Kicked Him
Caddo Parish, Louisiana - Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator reported on December 7, 2022, that a Shreveport, Louisiana man now faces two additional counts after deputies arrested him for hitting a coworker in the head with a hammer.
Detectives with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office charged Darius Coleman, 33, with possession of schedule II and possession of schedule I on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, after crime lab results revealed the narcotics recovered in his apartment the day he was arrested were methamphetamine and marijuana.
Caddo deputies were summoned to a business in the 9100 block of Youree Drive on September 15 to answer a call regarding a battery. Darius Coleman, 33, was reportedly seen on video repeatedly hitting the victim in the back of the head with a hammer. Kerrick Jones, 21, and Ty Whitaker, 20, entered the fight when the victim attempted to protect himself. While the victim was on the ground, the alleged perpetrators punched and kicked him in the head and neck. Before deputies arrived, Darius, Kerrick, and Ty departed the scene in a grey Ford Focus.
Witnesses alerted authorities, and the victim was transported to the hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department.
Caddo detectives were led to the Cambridge Court Apartments on Mansfield Road, where they discovered the suspects in one of the apartment units.
The accused took several hours to open the door and surrender. A search warrant was performed and illegal substances, a stolen gun, and the hammer used in the battery were reportedly discovered.
The three males were apprehended and taken to the Caddo Correctional Center.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
