Three Louisiana Men Arrested After Allegedly Violently Attacking a Coworker
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on September 16, 2022, that investigators apprehended three men for allegedly severely beating up a coworker in Shreveport, Louisiana on Thursday.
According to authorities, Caddo deputies were summoned to a business in the 9100 block of Youree Drive shortly before 8 a.m. on September 15 to answer a call regarding a battery.
According to Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Vincent Jackson, the incident was captured on surveillance cameras. Darius Coleman, 33, was seen on video repeatedly hitting the victim in the back of the head with a hammer. Kerrick Jones, 21, and Ty Whitaker, 20, entered the fight when the victim attempted to protect himself. While the victim was on the ground, the perpetrators allegedly struck and kicked him in the head and neck. Before the deputies arrived, Darius, Kerrick, and Ty departed the scene in a grey Ford Focus.
Witnesses alerted authorities, and the victim was transported to the hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department.
Caddo detectives were led to the Cambridge Court Apartments, where they discovered the suspects in one of the apartment units.
The accused took several hours to open the door and surrender. A search warrant was performed and illegal substances, a stolen gun, and the hammer used in the battery were discovered.
The three men were arrested and booked into Caddo Correctional Center on Thursday night. Coleman was charged with aggravated second-degree battery while Whitaker and Jones were charged with second-degree battery. More charges are pending.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
