Three From Louisiana Cited by Wildlife Agents For Alleged Hunting Violations in St. Bernard Parish

St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana – Three men from Louisiana have been cited by wildlife agents for alleged hunting violations in St. Bernard Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) stated on June 19, 2023, that an enforcement agent cited three persons on June 15 in St. Bernard Parish for alleged hunting infractions.

Jorge A. Caballero del Cid, 31, Alfredo J. Rodriguez-Soler, 26, and Bryan J. Sanchez-Brooks, 30, all of St. Bernard Parish, were cited by LDWF Senior Agent Salvador Mangano for hunting from a moving vehicle, hunting from a public roadway, and hunting rabbits during a closed season.

According to LDWF, in the last two weeks, LDWF agents have gotten many calls concerning persons in a dark-colored Ram pickup shooting rabbits at night near Highway 46.

Deputies from the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office reportedly observed the stated truck turn on lights, shoot out of the vehicle, depart the vehicle, and retrieve animals from the wood line on June 15. After seeing the incident, the deputies contacted LDWF agents.

When Senior Agent Mangano arrived on the scene, the subjects acknowledged hunting rabbits from the truck on the highway.

Senior Agent Mangano seized a .22 caliber rifle with a scope, three freshly harvested rabbits, and a .177 pellet rifle with a scope.

Each offense of hunting from a moving vehicle or hunting rabbits during a closed season carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Hunting from a public roadway is punishable by a $350 fine.

The subjects could also face a civil penalty of $95 for the value of the illegally taken rabbits.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
