Three From Louisiana Arrested in Connection with May 16 Homicide in Rapides Parish

Rapides Parish, Louisiana – Three people from Louisiana have been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on May 16 in Rapides Parish.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office revealed on May 18, 2023, that Sheriff’s Detectives had made three arrests in connection with the Glenmora homicide investigation that began Monday night in the Town of Glenmora, Louisiana.

According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Deputies and officers from the Glenmora Police Department responded to a complaint of a shooting along 13th Street and Division Street in Glenmora, Louisiana at approximately 8:40 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. When officers arrived, they discovered a person with a gunshot wound, subsequently identified as Derrick Harris, 19, of Glenmora, Louisiana. According to preliminary reports, an incident between the accused and the victim resulted in a shooting. Acadian Air Med responded and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators were able to develop three suspects from the Oakdale, Louisiana region using investigative tactics and evidence found at the scene. Nicholas Earl Holmes, 20, of Oakdale, Louisiana, Jaiden Holmes, 19, of Oakdale, Louisiana, and Jason D. Walker, 18, of Oakdale, Louisiana, were identified as suspects. Rapides Detectives were able to execute many search warrants, identifying evidence and numerous witnesses to the crime, thanks to the cooperation and help of the Oakdale Police Department.

Jaiden Holmes was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on May 16th, 2023 for 2nd Degree Murder, Assault by Drive-by Shooting, and Criminal Conspiracy. Bail has been set at $1.520,000.00, and he is still being held at the time of this release.

Nicholas Earl Holmes was taken into custody without incident on May 17th, 2023, arrested, and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for 8 charges of cyberstalking. He was arrested again on May 18 on warrants for 2nd Degree Murder, Assault by Drive-by Shooting, and Criminal Conspiracy. Bail has been set at $1,524,000.00, and he is still being held at the time of this publishing.

Jason D. Walker was apprehended in Oakdale on the afternoon of May 18, with the assistance of the Oakdale Police Department, and placed under arrest on the Rapides warrants. He was booked into the Oakdale City Jail and will be taken to the Rapides Parish Detention Center for 2nd Degree Murder, Assault by Drive-by Shooting, and Criminal Conspiracy.

Sheriff’s Detectives report that this case is still ongoing and more arrests are expected. Authorities are asking that anyone with information that could be useful contact Det. Jason Hagan or Det. An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
