Three From Louisiana Arrested After Bullets Fly by Pedestrian and Officers in Airport Parking Lot
Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – Three men from Louisiana have been arrested after bullets fly by a pedestrian and officers in an airport parking lot.
On April 7, 2023, Port Fourchon Harbor Police Chief Mike Kinler reported the arrest of three males in connection with the incident at South Lafourche Airport on Thursday night. Ernest Richoux, 44, of Galliano, Louisiana, Bryant Guidry, 40, of Houma, Louisiana, and Warren Bourque, 48, of Kaplan, Louisiana, were charged in the incident with illegal use of weapons.
The incident resulted in no injuries.
According to authorities, on April 6, 2023, around 6:30 p.m., Harbor Police officers responded to a 911 call from a man who said he was being shot at while standing in an airport parking lot. Police reportedly responded in less than a minute, and as they exited their vehicles, several bullets passed over and around them. Officers asked for backup after suspecting they were being targeted, and other officers and deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the area. They established a perimeter in order to contain and locate any probable suspects. The rounds had stopped at that point, and there was no longer an active threat. Authorities indicated that no suspects were located after several hours of searching, and officers found no evidence of an apparent motivation or that officers were being targeted at the time.
Officers received a tip on Richoux as a possible suspect in the incident on Friday morning, April 7. Officers discovered Richoux, Guidry, and Bourque were shooting a .223 rifle and four handguns at targets in the direction of the airport, with no backstop behind the targets to prevent rounds from going distances beyond the targets. All three individuals were apprehended and cooperated with authorities. Investigators established the three men had no intention of firing on anyone or any vehicles based on interviews with the suspects and evidence gathered at the scene.
Richoux, Guidry, and Bourque were all taken into custody and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. They were each charged with one count of illegal use of a firearm. Bail has yet to be set.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
