Organizers of This Is Home Festival recently announced that they will be teaming up with Lake Charles Toyota and other local volunteers and businesses to provide much needed relief to Kentucky tornado victims with an initiative called This Is Home Cooking. On January 9, 2022, volunteers will gather at Lake Charles Toyota from noon until 6 pm to cook gumbo which will be packaged in one-gallon containers, frozen, and delivered to affected areas.

Organizers are reaching out to local restaurants to pitch in and make a pot of gumbo, donate supplies and provide volunteers on January 9. Supplies needed include individual cracker packets, plastic bowls and spoons, and instant rice.

For more information or to volunteer, please email [email protected].

As of January 8, 2022, restaurants already donating resources include Paul’s Rib Shack, Rikenjaks, Panorama Music House, Buffis Peaux Boys, Steamboat Bills, The Villa Harlequin, and LuLu’s Lake Charles.

This Is Home Festival is a non-profit organization that produces a yearly music festival in downtown Lake Charles which benefits the Southwest Louisiana Arts and Humanities Council. Their website is www.thisishomefest.com.
