The Mission Walker to Pass Through Sulphur on February 7 During Mid-Morning on Her Journey Along the 2,817-mile Old Spanish Trail Auto Highway

Sulphur, Louisiana – Edie Littlefield Sundby, also known as “The Mission Walker,” will pass through Sulphur on February 7 during mid-morning, continuing her journey along the 2,817-mile Old Spanish Trail auto highway from San Diego to St. Augustine.

The City of Sulphur announced on February 6, 2023, that Edie Littlefield Sundby, also known as “The Mission Walker,” will be passing through the city during the mid-morning of February 7.

Edie Littlefield Sundby earned the moniker “The Mission Walker” after walking the 1600-mile El Camino Real de las Californias mission trail from Baja California to Northern California in 2015. She dreamed of walking the 2,817-mile Old Spanish Trail auto highway paved in the 1920s from “mission to mission” – San Diego, California to St. Augustine, Florida – after feeling the need to walk and breathe after the 2020 year of pandemic separation and isolation. This dream began to come true when she walked from San Antonio to Orange, Texas in May and June of 2021, and then from San Antonio to west Texas in 2022. Sundby began her walk six months after cancer took her right lung.

Mrs. Littlefield will now continue her journey through Sulphur, Louisiana. On Sunday, February 5th, she began walking the Old Spanish Trail from Old Burn Out Bridge to the Longhorn Truck Stop in Vinton, Louisiana. She traveled 10.5 miles through Vinton today and will travel through Sulphur on the morning of February 7.

Residents in Sulphur have been asked to keep an eye out for Mrs. Littlefield as she travels through the city.
