Texas Woman Killed and Another Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on I-20 in Louisiana

West Monroe, Louisiana – A Texas woman was killed and another person was injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-20 in Louisiana.

According to Louisiana State Police (LSP), on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at about 4:30 p.m., LSP Troop F responded to a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 west of Louisiana Highway 546. Linda Watson Tillis, 71, of Dallas, Texas, was killed in the crash.

The early investigation found that Jonathan Rogers, 51, of Jonesboro, Louisiana was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra westbound on Interstate 20. At the same time, Tillis’ 2003 Ford F-150 was stopped on the right shoulder of Interstate 20 behind an unoccupied commercial motor vehicle. For unknown circumstances, the GMC Sierra crossed over the fog line and collided with the rear end of the Ford F-150, causing it to collide with the trailer of the commercial motor vehicle.

Tillis died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the GMC Sierra, who was secured appropriately, had minor injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. For analysis, routine toxicological samples were submitted.

Although the specific reason for the incident is still being investigated, Troopers want to warn the public that inattentive and distracted driving is dangerous and a top cause of crashes in our state. To stay alert, motorists must pay attention to what is going on outside of the vehicle they are driving and get plenty of rest.

LSP Troop F has investigated nine fatal crashes so far in 2023, resulting in ten fatalities.
