Texas Woman Arrested for Alleged Contractor Fraud in Louisiana Totaling Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars

Louisiana – The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed on October 26, 2022, that Laura Patricia Nandin, 50, of Farmers Branch, Texas, was arrested on many counts of contractor fraud on October 24, 2022.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office began receiving allegations of contractor fraud in January 2022. According to the reports, a female subject identified as Nandin, the owner, and operator of M&M Contractors and M&M Roofing and Contractors in Texas, committed contractor fraud.

According to authorities, following a thorough investigation, investigators established that Nandin had operated and engaged in the contracting industry without a license, as required by Louisiana law. It was also revealed that Nandin had accepted payments to work on the homes of hurricane Ida victims. Nandin was paid but did not complete the task equal to what she was paid for, or she did not do any work at all. Following further investigation by the SJSO Cyber/Financial Crimes Division, multiple arrest warrants were issued for Nandin. Nandin was apprehended in Texas by agents of the Texas Attorney General’s Office and extradited to Louisiana with the help of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Fugitive Unit.

Nandin was arrested on October 24, 2022, for a total of 13 criminal offenses, including residential contractor fraud, theft by fraud/over $25,000, engaging in the business of contracting without authority, and misapplication of payments by a contractor. Losses in this case are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Nandin is being put in jail in lieu of a $305,000 bond.
