Lake Charles, Louisiana - A Trooper conducting commercial motor vehicle enforcement made a traffic stop on Interstate 10 west of LA Hwy 397, just east of Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish at around 11:00 a.m. on November 30, 2023. The stop led to the arrest of Oscar Jasso, a 27-year-old from Mission, Texas, after a large amount of cocaine was discovered.

The Trooper initially pulled over a 2011 Peterbilt (18-wheeler) for a compliance check while it was traveling east on Interstate 10. During the inspection and interaction with Jasso, suspicious behavior was observed. Although consent to search was denied, a K-9 unit was called in and positively alerted to the presence of drugs. Subsequently, the Trooper found 20 bundles of cocaine worth an estimated $500,000 within the cab of the truck.

Jasso received citations for multiple inspection violations and was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance schedule II. He was then taken into custody without any resistance and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
