Starks, Louisiana - A tragic incident occurred on June 16, when a motorcyclist lost his life in a single-vehicle crash on Green Island Road in Starks, Louisiana. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m.
According to the initial investigation, the 37-year-old driver, Rick J. Hampton of Orange, Texas, was traveling north on Green Island Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to run off the roadway. Hampton was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation, but authorities believe speed was a contributing factor. As mandated by state law, a toxicology report will be conducted to determine if any other factors may have contributed to the crash.
