Texas Man Charged with Two Counts of Burglary of a Pharmacy in Southwest Louisiana
Lake Charles, Louisiana – On October 5, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on February 16 and again on May 11, deputies were summoned to two pharmacies in Lake Charles, one on Highway 171 and one on Ryan Street, in regard to a burglary.
During the initial investigation, investigators discovered that the suspect shattered the glass on the front doors of the drugstores and gained entry inside. Once inside, the suspect was able to enter pharmacies, where he allegedly grabbed prescription drugs before fleeing the scene.
After further investigation, officers determined that one individual was responsible for both pharmacy burglaries. Detectives later identified the culprit as Brandon M. Hamilton, 39, of Baytown, Texas. On September 27, CPSO officers filed warrants for his arrest.
Hamilton, who is presently incarcerated in Liberty County, Texas on separate charges, is charged in Calcasieu Parish with theft from $1,000 to $5,000, theft less than $1,000, two counts of simple criminal damage to property $1,000 to $50,000, and two counts of simple burglary of a pharmacy. His total bond is set at $102,500.
Detective Jill Feverjean of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is in charge of these investigations.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
