Texas Man Charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder After Allegedly Shooting Someone at a Nightclub in Louisiana
Vinton, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on August 19, 2022, that at approximately 1:30 a.m., CPSO deputies responded to a complaint about a shooting at a nightclub on Highway 109 South in Vinton, Louisiana.
Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered the victim, who had gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs. After conducting an initial investigation and speaking with witnesses at the scene, detectives discovered that Kaleb C. Harvey, 19, of Nederland, Texas, and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation outside of the establishment, during which Harvey retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot the victim multiple times. Harvey fled the scene and was possibly on his way to his house in Nederland, according to detectives.
Harvey was apprehended and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility later that morning by deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He has been charged with attempted second-degree murder. His bond was set at $250,000 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
The victim was transferred to a nearby hospital and placed in emergency surgery. He was listed as being in critical condition at the time this was published.
Detective Tyler Houston of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the case’s principal investigator.
CPSO indicated that there is no mugshot available because Harvey was not booked in at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
