Texas Man Arrested in Louisiana with an Estimated $2.2 Million in Drugs

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police troopers executed a routine traffic stop on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish on December 1, 2021. Troopers were able to locate and confiscate 18 kg of suspected methamphetamine while investigating. This amount of methamphetamine is estimated to be worth $2.2 million on the street. Troopers arrested Ricardo Guevara, 47, of Texas, for drug-related offenses and booked him into the St. Tammany Parish Jail after discovering the illegal substances.

During several traffic stops over the previous 30 days, patrol Troopers from across the state of Louisiana have seized over $6 million in illegal narcotics. On our highways, troopers seized about 37.5 kilos of methamphetamine valued at $4.6 million, 3.5 kilograms of cocaine valued at $105k, 577 pounds of marijuana valued at $1.6 million, and a variety of other illegal substances.

Louisiana State Police said troopers will continue to make the state’s residents safer by enforcing proactive drug-related laws and collaborating with local and federal law enforcement authorities. By enforcing all state and federal laws controlling the criminal manufacture, distribution, sale, and use of drugs, troopers will target local and multi-state drug trafficking groups.
