Texas Man Arrested in Louisiana on 9 Counts of Contractor Fraud and Other Crimes

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Texas man has been arrested in Louisiana on nine counts of contractor fraud and other crimes.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on March 8, 2023, that deputies took a complaint in January 2021 for a Contractor Fraud case that occurred in Elton, Louisiana in December 2020.
Following up on the inquiry, detectives identified several incidents of Contractor Fraud by the same suspect in Jeff Davis and Calcasieu Parish.

The individual was allegedly taking deposits for roof repairs from customers and depositing the funds into his personal bank account.
James Anthony Mangum, 55, of Bedford, Texas, was identified by detectives. Mangum was wanted on drug charges in Texas and New Jersey and has been held at the Oakdale Federal Facility since 2021.

Detectives arrested Mangum today, March 8, 2023, for 9 counts of Contractor Fraud: misapplication of funds, in violation of LSA 14:202.1 (Residential contractor fraud).

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
