Texas Man Arrested as Suspect in Connection with Christmas Day Jewelry Store Burglary in Louisiana

St John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana – A man from Texas has been arrested as a suspect in connection with the Christmas Day burglary of a jewelry store in Louisiana.

The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) reported on April 26, 2023, that a Houston, Texas man had been apprehended in connection with the burglary of a jewelry store in LaPlace, Louisiana.

SJSO Criminal Investigations Division detectives established that Timothy Emerson of Houston, Texas was responsible for the Christmas morning burglary at the LaPlace jewelry business after conducting an investigation.

Officers responded to various alarms at the jewelry store on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at about 6:20 a.m. When deputies arrived, they reportedly discovered that the front glass door of the building had been damaged, and they gained entry. During a security scan of the business, deputies discovered that several of the glass cases inside had been damaged, and the contents of the cases had been rummaged through.
Detectives used security video from the neighborhood and cell phone mapping techniques to identify Emerson as the suspect during the inquiry.

Investigators also discovered that Emerson was part of a multi-state burglary ring and is currently incarcerated in Harris County, Texas. Emerson was charged with simple burglary in connection with the LaPlace jewelry heist. When his current charges in Harris County are completed, he will be moved to St. John Parish.
