Suspect in Louisiana Wounded in Officer Involved Shooting After Three-Hour Standoff in Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – A suspect in Louisiana was wounded in an officer-involved shooting after a three-hour standoff in Baton Rouge.

The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) revealed on April 5, 2023, that Homicide Detectives made contact with 2nd Degree Attempt Murder suspect Cameron Shorter, 27, at roughly 1:34 pm in the parking lot of a strip mall located in the 1200 block of North Sherwood Forest Boulevard.

Authorities say Shorter emerged from his automobile armed with a firearm following a three-hour negotiation standoff. Officers from the Baton Rouge Police Special Response team shot at Shorter, wounding him.

Shorter was transferred to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to BRPD, this incident is still being investigated. 

A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
