Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana – Suspect involved in attempted murder case discovered dead in car after a chase across several parishes.

On September 11, 2023, at around 12:15 p.m., officers began a traffic stop on a vehicle that the Lafayette Police Department was seeking in connection with an attempted murder case. However, the driver, who was heading north on I-49 close to Opelousas, Louisiana did not comply and instead continued his escape into Avoyelles Parish.

When troopers arrived in Avoyelles Parish, they found the suspected vehicle parked on the exit ramp of the Bunkie, Louisiana. The man driving the targeted vehicle was discovered to be dead, presumably from a gunshot wound he inflicted on himself.

None of the Troopers were harmed during this event. A coroner’s autopsy will ascertain the actual cause of the death.
