Khalil Holmes, aged 27, was taken into police custody on July 3, 2023, by Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives. The arrest was made in connection with the shooting death of Aklyah Dorsey, aged 20, that took place on June 16, 2023, at approximately 1:00 am. Dorsey was discovered lying in the driveway of a home located in the 9000 Block of North Parkview Dr. with a single gunshot wound to her neck. She subsequently died at the scene.

Holmes was apprehended without any resistance at his residence and was later booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Weapon, and Obstruction of Justice.
