Suspect Arrested in June 7 Shooting on West Verdine Street in Sulphur, Other Arrests Expected
Sulphur, Louisiana – A suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting on West Verdine Street in Sulphur on June 7, and more arrests are expected.
On June 9th, 2023, John Wall, the Police Chief of Sulphur, reported that shortly after midnight on June 7th, Sulphur PD received several 911 calls about shots fired in the 600 block of W. Verdine Street.
According to reports, when the officers arrived on the scene, they found a man inside the house suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. In the front yard, they discovered a deceased man who had also been hit with multiple bullets. The wounded man was taken to a nearby hospital and is in a critical but stable condition; he was later identified as Andre Cornelius from Houston, Texas. The deceased man was identified as Gerard Wilson Jr. of Sulphur, Louisiana.
It was also discovered that a man had been dropped off at the entrance to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. This man has been identified as Nicholas Brown and it is believed that he was involved in the same incident that occurred on W. Verdine Street.
Sulphur Police have identified Connor Guillot as a suspect in the shooting, and on June 9th, 2023, he was taken into custody for Second Degree Murder. Further arrests are not being ruled out at this time.
