Suspect Arrested in July 31 Murder Case in Louisiana

Baton Rouge, Louisiana - On August 5, 2022, the Baton Rouge Police Department reported that Kirkpatrick Franklin, 52, was arrested on August 4, 2022, by Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives for his involvement in the shooting death of Albert Hawkins, 21.
According to police, Franklin attempted to evade law enforcement in a vehicle and was caught by the Baton Rouge Police Special Response Team and U.S. Marshals in the 3500 block of North St.
Franklin was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Albert Hawkins was shot and killed in the 4700 block of Bradley St. on July 31, 2022, at about 11:39 p.m., according to Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives.
Hawkins and two other victims were shot after an altercation at the reported home with a black male suspect. Hawkins was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The two other victims were sent to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
This investigation is ongoing.
