Suspect Arrested After a Family Vehicle was Stolen Outside of Louisiana Convenience Store Later Located in Wooded Area

Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A suspect has been arrested after a family vehicle was stolen from outside of a Louisiana convenience store and was later located in a wooded area.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Cut Off, Louisiana man on May 4, 2023, for allegedly stealing a vehicle in a convenience store parking lot. According to reports from authorities, within two hours of the incident, Eric Vincent, 36, of Cut Off, Louisiana, was arrested.

On May 2, 2023, shortly after 4 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle outside a convenience store on West Main Street in Cut Off, Louisiana. A family had gone into the convenience store, leaving the car unlocked and the keys inside. When they left the store, they discovered that the vehicle had vanished.

Deputies later received information that Eric Vincent had stolen the vehicle and was driving north on West Main Street. Vincent was found by deputies in the Cut Off region. Vincent reportedly resisted deputies, but they were able to arrest him. The car was discovered abandoned in a nearby wooded area, with minor damage and items missing, including a cell phone.

Vincent was sent to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He was booked on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, felony theft, and resisting an officer. Bail has yet to be set.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
