Sulphur Woman Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Single-Vehicle Crash on US 90 Near Edgerly Cuttoff

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A Sulphur woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash on US 90 near Edgerly Cuttoff.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 14, 2023, Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on US Hwy 90 near Edgerly Cutoff in Calcasieu Parish. Sadly, the crash resulted in the untimely death of 36-year-old Brittany Lynn Slusher, a resident of Sulphur, Louisiana.

According to the preliminary investigation, Slusher was driving a 2008 BMW 528 Sedan heading west on US 90 when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons, veered off the roadway, and collided with a tree. Despite wearing her seatbelt, Slusher suffered from severe injuries and was transported to a hospital in the Lake Charles area for immediate medical attention.

Later that same evening, Troop D received notification that Slusher had passed away from her injuries.

So far in 2023, Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 21 deaths.
