Sulphur, Louisiana - Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI) have arrested a Sulphur woman accused of defrauding the state’s Medicaid program of more than $43,000 over several years.

According to information released by the Attorney General’s Office, 36-year-old Mandy Lynn Anderson, of Sulphur, was taken into custody on Wednesday, February 10, 2026. The arrest followed a criminal referral from the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), which oversees Medicaid in the state.

Anderson, a Medicaid recipient, is alleged to have underreported her income in order to receive benefits for which she was not eligible. Medicaid is a joint federal and state program that provides health coverage to low-income individuals and families, and eligibility is based in part on household income and family status.

Allegations Of Underreported Income

The investigation began after LDH alerted LBI to concerns that Anderson may have provided false information on her Medicaid applications and renewals.

During the course of the investigation, LBI agents determined that between January 1, 2018, and September 1, 2024, Anderson allegedly concealed both her marital status and her true household income when reporting to LDH. Those omissions and misrepresentations are at the center of the criminal case.

Investigators say that by failing to disclose accurate financial and household information, Anderson received Medicaid benefits she was not entitled to, resulting in a loss to the program of more than $43,000.

Charges Under Louisiana Law

An arrest warrant was issued for Anderson by the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish. LBI agents arrested her pursuant to that warrant.

She is charged with:

  • Two counts of Louisiana Revised Statute 14:70.9 – Government Benefits Fraud

Anderson was booked without incident into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Her bond has been set at $10,000.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities state that the investigation into Anderson’s case is ongoing. No trial date or further court proceedings have been announced based on the information available so far.

As with all criminal cases, the charges against Anderson are allegations at this stage. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
