Sulphur Structure Fire Extinguished by Houston River and Ward 6 FD Saving Nearby Home

Sulphur, Louisiana – On January 14th, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Houston River Fire Department received a dispatch alerting them to a house fire in the 1900 block of Highway 90 W. in Sulphur, Louisiana. Responding units included Engine 1, Tanker 1, and Engine 2, along with assistance from the Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One, Acadian Ambulance, and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO).

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the fire was confined to a detached outdoor kitchen, which was fully engulfed in flames. The crew from Engine 1 swiftly initiated firefighting measures, successfully extinguishing the blaze before it could spread to the adjacent home. As a result of their quick response, the main structure sustained only minor damage, while the outdoor kitchen was declared a total loss.

At the time of the incident, no individuals were present in the home, as a concerned neighbor had promptly called 911 upon noticing the fire. There were no reported injuries among the firefighters involved in combating the blaze. In light of the incident, a fire investigator from the Sulphur Fire Department was requested to assist the Houston River Fire Department in determining the cause of the fire.

Currently, the cause remains undetermined, and officials are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire. Investigations of this nature often involve examining various factors, including potential electrical issues or external ignition sources, to ascertain how the fire ignited.
