Sulphur Resident Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Edgerly Road in DeQuincy

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A Sulphur resident was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Edgerly Road in DeQuincy.

At around 6:15 p.m. on August 30, 2023, authorities from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash involving two vehicles located at the 3400 block of Edgerly Road in DeQuincy, Louisiana.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV was traveling northbound on Edgerly Road when it crossed the center line while approaching a curve, ultimately colliding with a truck that was heading southbound. Unfortunately, the driver of the SUV, Gay L. Dugas, 65, Sulphur, Louisiana lost their life in the accident as they were not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

The driver of the truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries.

In accordance with state law, authorities will conduct a toxicology report on both drivers, although there is currently no suspicion of impairment. CPSO Cpl. Kerrick Gabriel, Jr. is leading the investigation into this tragedy.
