Sulphur, Louisiana — The Sulphur Police Department will host a Police Memorial Service on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the West Cal Event Center. The event is part of the National Police Memorial Week, a time when communities across the United States pause to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
According to national statistics, 165 police officers lost their lives while serving in 2024. Of these, three officers were from Louisiana. The service aims to acknowledge their dedication and the risks faced daily by law enforcement personnel. The Sulphur Police Department encourages the public to attend, emphasizing the importance of community support during this time of remembrance.
Police Memorial Week, observed annually in May, was established to recognize and honor officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The week also serves to support surviving family members, friends, and fellow officers. Memorial services typically include readings of names, flag ceremonies, and moments of silence, providing a space for both reflection and solidarity.
The event at the West Cal Event Center is open to all community members.
