Sulphur Parks and Recreation Announces that Frasch Golf Course will Reopen May 6

Published May 5, 2020

From SPAR – Sulphur Parks and Recreation’s Frasch Golf Course will reopen effective Wednesday, May 6, 2020.
Please be advised, changes to our normal procedures during this time are intended to assist in the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Details are listed below.

We are happy to reopen Frasch Golf Course effective Wednesday, May 6, 2020. As always, our top priority continues to be the safety of our guests and staff. There will be changes to our normal procedures during this time to assist with the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 virus. A list of guidelines will be enforced, and golfers will need to practice social distancing. We will take phone calls for tee times Tuesday, May 5th, from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm for Wednesday tee times. If you have been a guest before and are in our system you may also receive an email with an invitation for online tee time booking that can be done two days in advance.

These course guidelines will reduce the contact golfers have with each other and staff:

  • Tee times must be booked In advance. No walk-In tee times will be allowed. Check-In will be ten minutes prior to tee time. This is done to reduce the number of people in the clubhouse at any one time. Once checked in, report to the starter at the #1 tee box.
  •  Members with their own private cart will not be required to sign in the pro shop. The starter will check you in on the #1 tee box. You are required to make a tee time in advance.
  •  One rider per cart.
  •  Flagsticks remain in the hole. Cups are modified to keep the ball near the surface of the hole to minimize contact with the cup.
  • We encourage you to use a credit card or debit card when paying course fees to minimize contact with money.
  • The clubhouse is restricted to 10 people at a time.
  • Bunker rakes and water coolers have been removed from the course. We will temporarily allow outside nonalcoholic beverages. Beverages are also available in the clubhouse.
  • All golfers practice social distancing at all times while golfing as well as while in the clubhouse while adhering to the ten-person rule.

We are also taking these precautions to ensure safety:

  • A sneeze guard has been installed at the pro shop register.
  • We will not require you to sign the sign-in sheet. The salesclerk will sign you in when course fees are paid.
  • Contact surfaces at the sale counter are sanitized after every transaction.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers are at the pro shop counter, entry doors, and the course bathroom entry.
  • Fleet golf carts are sanitized after every use. Sanitized pencils and scorecards are placed in carts for rental.
  • Driving range tokens are sanitized before sale. The baskets and balls are sanitized after every use before returning to the ball dispensing area.
  • The range tee area is limited to the area between the ropes defined by the bag stands. One hitter per stand.
  • Chipping green and putting green are monitored to ensure social distancing guidelines.
  • The coffee break area has been removed until further notice.
  • Grill operations are closed until further notice.

We are excited to be able to serve you during this time. We ask that you view these guidelines and precautions as necessary steps taken for you and our staff s safety.
