Suspect Raymond P Casteel, 30, Sulphur

On August 14 a judge reduced the bond of a previously arrested suspect and he turned himself in to the CPSO Warrants Division the following day.

On April 5 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives received a call in reference to a carnal knowledge of a juvenile. During the investigation a 15 year old girl advised detectives she and Raymond P. Casteel, 30, Sulphur, had sexual intercourse on three separate occasions in January.

The girl told detectives she had previously met Casteel once in person and had been communicating with him on social media prior to them having sexual intercourse. On April 12, when questioned by detectives Casteel confirmed he had sexual intercourse with the victim on one occasion. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 3 counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile. He was released the following day on a $75,000 bond set by Judge David Ritchie.

After further investigation detectives searched social media records between Casteel and the victim and learned that on at least fourteen occasions Casteel engaged in lewd and inappropriate communication with the girl. On August 5 Judge Robert Wyatt signed an arrest warrant in the amount of $100,000 for Casteel’s arrest. On August 14 Judge Wyatt reduced Casteel’s bond to $25,000 and he turned himself in to the CPSO Warrants Division the following day. Casteel was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 14 counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile.

CPSO Detective Kara Adams is the lead investigator on this case.
