Sulphur, Louisiana - At around 4:00 a.m. on October 19, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a local hospital regarding a 4-month-old baby who was being treated for serious head injuries, suspected to be a result of child abuse. During the initial investigation, detectives discovered that the baby was under the care of Jordan S. Tupper, aged 23, from Sulphur, Louisiana at the time of the injuries.

When questioned by detectives, Tupper provided multiple conflicting accounts of how the injuries might have occurred accidentally; however, none of these explanations aligned with the extent of the baby's injuries. Hospital staff informed detectives that the baby had suffered non-accidental traumatic head injuries. Following further investigation on October 20,

Tupper was arrested by detectives and taken into custody at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He has been charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and his bond has been set at $950,000 by Judge David Ritchie. Due to the severity of their injuries, the child has been transported to an out-of-town hospital for emergency surgery and is currently in critical condition in ICU.

The Department of Children & Family Services has taken custody of the victimized child. CPSO Detective Sonny Schiro is leading this case.
