Westlake, Louisiana - According to Westlake Police Chief Christopher Wilrye, on August 8, 2023, the Westlake Police Department received a complaint from two victims regarding Gregory P. Scarlatta of Sulphur, Louisiana.

The victims claimed that Scarlatta unlawfully entered their residence with a firearm, held his ex-girlfriend against her will for multiple days, and physically assaulted her. Additionally, Scarlatta allegedly threatened to harm both victims, brandished a firearm at them, and even discharged the weapon at their home.

Consequently, Detective Wright obtained an arrest warrant for Scarlatta based on these accusations.

It was later discovered that Scarlatta was also wanted by Louisiana Probation and Parole for unrelated offenses.

Westlake Officers Matte, Lewis, and Miller apprehended Scarlatta pursuant to Det Wright's arrest warrant. Notably, at the time of his arrest, Scarlatta was found in possession of narcotics and various stolen items that directly link him to several burglaries within the city. This investigation remains ongoing with additional charges pending.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
