Sulphur, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop D started investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Louisiana Highway 1256 near Carlyss Drive on June 10, 2024, just before 5:00 a.m. The crash resulted in the death of 40-year-old Raymond Bradley IV from Iowa, Louisiana.

Initial findings showed that Bradley was operating a 2009 Nissan Altima heading north on LA Hwy 1256 when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, a 2020 Peterbilt Semi-Truck was stationary in the same lane waiting at a traffic light at the junction of Carlyss Drive. The Altima collided with the back of the Peterbilt, but the exact cause is still being looked into.

According to Louisiana State Police, Bradley, who was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he eventually passed away. The driver of the Peterbilt, who was wearing a seatbelt, only sustained minor injuries.

Both drivers had toxicology samples taken for analysis as part of the standard procedure. The investigation into this crash is ongoing.

Troopers urge all drivers to make responsible choices when operating a vehicle. It is important to never drive while impaired, tired, or distracted. Furthermore, Louisiana law mandates that all passengers must always wear their seatbelt, regardless of where they are seated. Although not all crashes can be avoided, following these safety measures can significantly decrease the risk of sustaining serious injuries or fatalities.

Troop D has investigated 6 deadly crashes that led to 6 deaths in 2024.
