Sulphur, Louisiana: Authorities Investigate Fatal SUV Crash at Gill Drive and Koonce Road

Sulphur, Louisiana - On March 29, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a tragic incident at the intersection of Gill Drive and Koonce Road in Sulphur, Louisiana. The authorities were alerted to a single-vehicle crash involving an SUV.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the SUV, traveling westbound on Koonce Road, veered off the roadway near Gill Drive for reasons yet to be ascertained. The vehicle collided with a tree, resulting in a fatal outcome for the driver, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

In line with legal requirements, a toxicology report will be conducted as part of the investigation into this fatality. The identity of the deceased driver will not be disclosed until the next of kin has been notified.

Sergeant Cody Fontenot of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has taken charge as the lead investigator of this unfortunate crash. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under scrutiny as authorities work diligently to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
