SULPHUR, La. — A house fire in the 1600 block of Daigle Road left one home completely destroyed Sunday night, though no injuries were reported as the residence was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
Houston River Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m. on November 9, according to department officials. When firefighters arrived, the home was fully involved.
The department deployed significant resources to combat the fire, including Engine 1, Engine 2, Tanker 1, Service 2, Command Unit 92, Command Unit 91, and Rehab 1. Sulphur Fire Department provided mutual aid at the request of Houston River Fire Department, while Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One responded under an automatic aid agreement.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. However, the home sustained damage severe enough to be declared a total loss.
No one was inside the home when the fire started, and no injuries were reported among residents or emergency responders.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office has taken over the investigation to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The state agency routinely investigates significant fires to identify potential criminal activity, code violations, or safety hazards that may have contributed to the blaze.
