Sulphur, Louisiana — The City of Sulphur has formally recognized six firefighters for their exceptional response to two emergency incidents, where their swift intervention and medical expertise helped save the lives of two individuals. According to city officials, these critical situations unfolded over the past few months and demanded immediate, decisive action from first responders.
The firefighters honored include Capt. Josh Norwood, Capt. Brandon Felice, Eng. Bob Daniel, Eng. John Hardy, Firefighter Candidate (F.F.C.) Evan Farque, and Firefighter Candidate Spears. Each played a vital role in the successful outcomes of two separate calls, one involving a complex medical emergency and another requiring advanced life support techniques.
Officials explained that in both incidents, the individuals affected faced life-threatening conditions. The firefighters’ rapid assessment and application of advanced aid, including CPR and the use of specialized medical equipment, were credited as key reasons for the successful rescues. These situations underscore the importance of ongoing training and readiness among fire department personnel.
Fire Chief and city leaders praised the group’s professionalism and noted that their actions not only protected the lives of the individuals involved, but also had a lasting positive impact on the families and the broader Sulphur community. “Without their immediate and skillful administration of aid, the trajectory of those lives, and the lives of their families, could have been changed forever,” one official said in a statement.
Firefighters in Sulphur undergo regular training in advanced emergency medical procedures, preparing them to respond to a wide variety of incidents—from house fires and hazardous materials spills to medical emergencies and vehicle crashes.
This recognition is part of a broader effort by the City of Sulphur to highlight the critical role first responders play in public safety.
