Sulphur, Louisiana - A devastating mobile home fire in Sulphur has claimed the lives of four people. The incident occurred on Sunday, November 17, at approximately 3:59 a.m. in the 800 block of Brandi Street.

When firefighters from the Sulphur Fire Department arrived at the scene, they found the mobile home completely engulfed in flames. Firefighters began to extinguish the fire and, during the process, discovered the four victims deceased inside the home.

The official identification and cause of death are pending with the Coroner's Office. The victims' identities will not be released until the Coroner's Office makes the official identification and determines the cause of death.

A joint investigation by the Sulphur Fire Department, Sulphur Police Department, and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies has determined that the fire potentially started in or around the utility room. Although the exact cause remains undetermined at this time, deputies have not ruled out potential electrical issues, unsafe heating practices, or improperly discarded smoking materials as possible causes.

The Sulphur Fire Department emphasized the importance of fire safety and reminded residents that working smoke alarms can be the difference between life and death in a fire emergency. The department also encouraged residents to ensure that their homes have functioning smoke alarms. Those in need of assistance obtaining smoke alarms can contact Operation Save-A-Life, which provides free smoke alarm installations.

Mutual aid was provided by Carlyss Fire Department, Houston River Fire Department, and Ward 6 Fire Department.
