SULPHUR, LA. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, or DOTD, said alternating lane closures are scheduled to begin Monday, March 16, 2026, at the intersection of E Burton Street and North Beglis Parkway in Sulphur as crews perform milling and asphalt operations.
The work is expected to continue through Friday, March 20, 2026, according to the DOTD.
Officials said the lane closures are needed so crews can complete roadway improvements in the area. Milling is the process of removing the top layer of old pavement, while asphalt operations generally include resurfacing the road with new material to improve driving conditions.
Because traffic will be reduced to alternating lanes at times, drivers traveling through the intersection could experience delays during the work period. The DOTD is encouraging motorists to detour when possible and to follow all posted signs in the area.
The intersection of E Burton Street and North Beglis Parkway is a local traffic route in Sulphur, and road work there may affect daily travel for residents, commuters, and nearby businesses during the five-day construction window.
