Sulphur, Louisiana – A joint investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) and the Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) has led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Sulphur, Louisiana.
On September 24, around 10:00 p.m., CPSO deputies were dispatched to a store on Hood Road in response to a report of an armed robbery. According to investigators, an unknown man entered the store, armed and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash and vaping devices before fleeing the scene on foot.
During the initial investigation, detectives discovered that a similar robbery had occurred in Lake Charles and was being investigated by the LCPD. Further investigation by the LCPD led to the identification of a possible suspect, 23-year-old Corey D. Givens of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
On September 25, CPSO and LCPD detectives located Givens at a local hotel. A subsequent search of the area resulted in the recovery of items linking Givens to the robbery. When questioned by detectives, Givens allegedly confirmed his involvement in the crime.
Givens was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a charge of first-degree robbery. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $95,000. The LCPD also has additional charges pending against Givens.
CPSO Detective Elizabeth Ivey led the investigation into the Sulphur robbery.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
