Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana - A student in Calcasieu Parish was arrested for alleged threats and has been charged with seven counts of terrorizing.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office got a phone call about a potential shooting threat at LaGrange High School yesterday evening, August 20, around 8:00 p.m.

Over the course of their investigation, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) received numerous additional reports relating to potential shooting threats at other schools within the parish. Utilizing their law enforcement resources, CPSO investigators successfully located the origin of these threats, linking them to a 15-year-old student at LaGrange. The student was tracked down by detectives at his school around midday today. After speaking with him and his guardian, he was taken into custody and booked at the Juvenile Detention Center, facing seven charges of terrorizing.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso and the head of Calcasieu Parish Schools maintain a steady line of communication, implementing a policy of zero intolerance against any form of threats towards any school within Calcasieu Parish. Each threat will be put under thorough investigation, leading to necessary arrests. “If you have not done so already, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making threats,” stated Sheriff Tony Mancuso.  “This is no joking matter and students need to know they will be arrested if they make threats toward a school.  The safety of our children and faculty is always our top priority.”

Detective Greg Jordan from CPSO is spearheading the investigation regarding this case. The Calcasieu Parish School Board has provided aid to CPSO during the investigation.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
