Student Arrested for Alleged Threat Toward Sulphur High School

Sulphur, LA – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that on January 17, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., deputies were notified of a threat of a possible shooting at Sulphur High School.
During the initial investigation, deputies were told that an unknown individual called another student and said there would be a shooting at the school the next day. During the investigation, a 15-year-old boy contacted CPSO and stated that he was the one who made the phone call. He was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on terrorizing charges.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Britt Poindexter is the arresting deputy on this case. CPSO Detective Larry Cormier is the lead investigator in the case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
