States Certifying 2020 Presidential Election Results and Certification Deadlines by State
After the 2020 Presidential Election states must certify their results before the electoral college delegations meet to cast their vote in each state on December 14. While many states certify their election results in November, some states have certification deadlines set in December. Most states certify their election results prior to their state deadline, but in some cases, the deadline may be extended.
States in dark blue or red have certified their 2020 presidential election results.
States with lighter colors have not yet been certified, but show the projected winner for that state.
- On Friday, December 4, 2020, California certified their election results giving Joe Biden enough electoral votes to win the election.
- As of December 9, 2020, all 50 states and D.C. have certified their results in the 2020 Presidential Election.
- On December 11, 2020, the US Supreme Court rejected a case by the state of Texas to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election. Follow this link for more information about the US Supreme Court order.
- On December 14, 2020, electoral votes were cast in all states with Joe Biden receiving 306 and Donald Trump receiving 232. Only 270 electoral votes are required to win.
