STARKS, La. — A travel trailer was destroyed Thursday morning in Starks when a structure fire spread rapidly through the unit and into nearby grass and brush, according to Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One.

The fire was reported at 10:16 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, on Old River Road at JE Miller Road in the Starks area of Louisiana. Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One was dispatched as automatic aid to the Ward 5 Fire Department for what was reported as a structure fire.

Automatic aid is a prearranged agreement between departments to send help immediately when certain types of calls come in, rather than waiting for a request. It is commonly used in rural or less densely populated areas to ensure enough firefighters and equipment respond to potentially serious incidents.

Ward Six responded with Command 901, Engine 19, and Service 6, sending a total of six firefighters to assist Ward 5. When Ward 5 Fire personnel arrived on scene, they reported that the travel trailer was fully involved. Flames were also moving toward nearby grass and brush, raising concern about a possible wider brush fire if not contained quickly.

Ward Six firefighters assisted with fire suppression and supplied water for the incident, supporting Ward 5 crews as they worked to bring the fire under control.

The trailer was declared a total loss. It was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported in the information released by Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One.

No cause for the fire was provided in the report, and there was no additional information released about property ownership or potential damage beyond the trailer and nearby vegetation.
