Speed Suspected as a Factor in Crash that Killed a Louisiana Man and Texas Man on LA 1

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police stated on November 14, 2022, that on November 13, 2022, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified of a two-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 1. (Leeville Toll Bridge). Santiago Cascillo, 33, of Texas, and Chad St. Pierre, 51, of Grand Isle, Louisiana, were killed in the crash.

According to preliminary investigations, Cascillo, who was driving a 2014 Dodge Durango, was speeding south on LA Hwy 1. St. Pierre was driving north on LA Hwy 1 in a 2019 Toyota CHR at the same time. Cascillo reportedly crossed the center line and collided with the Toyota for unknown reasons.
Cascillo and St. Pierre were both restrained at the time of the crash, and both perished at the scene.

A toxicological sample was collected from both drivers and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.

So far in 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop C has investigated 44 fatal crashes that resulted in 49 deaths.
