Bossier Parish, Louisiana - Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop G launched an investigation into a fatal vehicle crash on LA Hwy 529, north of LA Hwy 160, during the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Regrettably, the crash resulted in the death of 42 year old Chad Dupuis of Haughton, Louisiana.

According to the preliminary investigation, Dupuis was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 south on LA Hwy 529. For unknown reasons, Dupuis was unable to successfully maneuver a right-hand curve and instead left the road, ultimately colliding with a tree.

Dupuis, who was not wearing a seatbelt according to LSP, was partially thrown out of the Ford during the crash and tragically sustained fatal injuries.

The Bossier Parish Coroner's Office declared him dead at the scene.

Louisiana State Police indicated that it is believed that impairment may have played a role in the crash. Authorities have gathered toxicology samples for testing, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Troopers often witness avoidable crashes occurring repeatedly. The main reasons for these crashes are impairment and not using seat belts, which are common causes throughout the state. The Louisiana State Police strongly advise drivers to make arrangements in advance, such as having a designated driver, if they plan on consuming alcohol. Alcohol can have various negative effects on a person's driving abilities, including impaired vision, distorted perception of time and space, decreased fine motor skills, and slower reactions. Even just one drink can impair someone's ability to safely operate a vehicle. It is crucial to make the responsible choice of not driving while impaired or getting into a vehicle with an impaired driver and always wearing a seat belt.

So far In year 2023, Troop G has investigated 20 deadly crashes, which led to 20 individuals losing their lives.
