Southwest Louisiana Residents Advised to Prepare for Marginal Risk of Severe Weather Today

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A surface frontal system is moving towards Southwest Louisiana today, bringing with it a chance of showers and thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles, the approaching system may spark some strong to severe storms, with a marginal risk of 5 percent for severe weather or flooding.

Residents are advised to be prepared for the possibility of strong gusty winds, which could cause damage to property and infrastructure. Furthermore, a brief spin-up tornado is also possible.

In addition to the risk of severe weather, the storms may also bring heavy rainfall, leading to flooding in urban and poor drainage areas. This could cause disruptions to daily life and potentially lead to hazardous conditions on the roads.
