Southwest Louisiana Legislators Discuss Suddenlink’s Response to Hurricane Laura

Published September 12, 2020

From Louisiana State Representative Phillip Tarver – Our area Legislators had a conference call with (Suddenlink) and expressed our extreme displeasure with their handling of our area. We are continuing to have discussions with them and expect them to be more responsive. We have told them they must begin with full suspension of billing charges as long as there is no service. Also, we stressed they must show us visible presence and urgency in this area, including workers visibly active. They are on notice and we will see what if any results we get very soon.

This comes after many Suddenlink customers in Southwest Louisiana have taken to social media with complaints about the company charging them even if they are unable to use the service. Many residents have also been told that they will have to pay a monthly fee even to put their accounts on hold. Suddenlink serves as the only cable provider in most of Sulphur and Lake Charles. The company is also one of the few providers of wired internet service to homes and businesses in the area.
