Sulphur, Louisiana - Contractors have begun repair work on South Post Oak Road in Sulphur, temporarily closing a section of the south-bound lane in front of the post office.
The City of Sulphur announced the construction project will address damage to a 22-foot by 14-foot section of the roadway. According to city officials, the damage was originally caused by previous repairs conducted in the area.
The southbound lane closure is expected to remain in effect until the end of next week as crews complete the necessary repairs. Traffic control measures, including signage and traffic cones, have been placed along the affected stretch of South Post Oak Road to alert motorists to the construction zone.
Drivers traveling through the area should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. The city has not announced whether additional road work will be required after the current project concludes.
The city has not released an estimated cost for the repair project or identified which contractor was awarded the work.
