Single-Vehicle Morning Crash in Louisiana on LA 45 in Jefferson Parish Claims the Life of Motorcyclist

Jefferson Parish, Louisiana – A single-vehicle crash in Louisiana on LA 45 in Jefferson Parish has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

On the morning of Saturday, July 8, 2023, around 6 am, Louisiana State Police Troop B received a report of a single-vehicle crash on LA 45 (Barataria Boulevard) close to Pritchard Road in Marrero, Louisiana. Unfortunately, the crash resulted in the death of a 30-year-old Marrero resident named Kyle Wooton.

At the beginning of the investigation, it was discovered that Wooton was operating a 2017 Suzuki GX1300R motorcycle heading in the southern direction on Barataria Boulevard close to Pritchard Road. The reasons behind Wooton’s failure to handle a turn in the road are still being investigated. Consequently, the Suzuki veered off the road and went airborne, leading to Wooton being thrown off the bike.

Despite wearing a helmet that was approved by the Department of Transportation, Wooton sustained injuries that led to his death. It is unclear if he was impaired, but as part of the ongoing investigation, a sample was collected and examined for intoxicating substances.

Troopers are urging riders to participate in a certified motorcycle safety course. These courses provide instruction on how to ride safely and offer techniques to minimize the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
