Shooting in Carlyss, Louisiana: One Dead, One Serious, Suspect Arrested

Carlyss, Louisiana – At around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a trailer in Carlyss, Louisiana near Highway 27.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered two individuals inside the residence who had been shot. Unfortunately, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

The suspect, Jonathan J. Waite, 22 years old from Sulphur, Louisiana fled on foot but was apprehended by deputies around 4:50 p.m. A perimeter was set up to capture him.

CPSO indicated that at the time this was published, this investigation was still in its early stages and no further details are available.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
